Day 132: Picture This

Our challenge for today was to use this image as inspiration for our card. So, I took the idea of a birthday cake and made a birthday card, I know it's not very original but who couldn't use an extra birthday card. You can't tell (in the pictures) but the paper has a couple of glitter features and I added some rhinestones on top of a couple of party hats. The embellishment that I used in the middle of the card is a shiny sticker that says presents.

Gotta love the rhinestone party hat in the corner!
And I love this pink and blue polka-dot ribbon!

My friend is Pregnant

My really good friend Rebecca is pregnant. Her and her husband have been trying to get pregnant and it finally happened! Woohoo! I am very excited for her and decided that I wanted to send her something nice. I saw pregnancy journals on etsy and thought about buying one, but then I decided that I should just try to make my own. It doesn't have any of the cute journal pages on the inside, just blank pages. Overall I really liked how my project turned out. I still need to figure out how I want to keep it together. I might be able to bind it, using one of my friends BindItAll machines (I think that's what it's called). Anyway, I thought I would share my project with you.

I absolutely love the black and white paper I used on the front cover. To make it more sturdy, I used tag board under the paper. I used black sparkle paper and a white brad for the tab. The bottom ribbon is black with red cherries on it. I used my Cricut to cut out the letters.
Second trimester

For the 3rd trimester, I used red and white polka-dot ribbon, on top of it is a white a red polka-dot flower and a large black button.
This is the back of the 3rd trimester page. I just added a bow and a red button so it didn't look unfinished.
This is the back of the journal.

Day 131: Ad Inspired

Today's challenge is to take the image from this ad and use it as your inspiration for your card.

Here is my ad inspired card:

I used the red and white polka-dot paper to represent the little girls robe. I used the blue ribbon the white stitches on it to represent the little boys robe. Then I found the cute "Life's a beach" sticker and thought that would represent the water and fish. When I think of Dr. Seuss books, it makes me smile, hence the word "Smile" on the card. I thought it went together pretty well. "Life's a beach, smile." I added the rhinestones onto the card to represent the window and mirror in the ad. I had a lot of fun using this ad as my inspiration and I think my card turned out very cute.

Day 130: That Tickles Me

Today's Challenge:
I feel like having a good laugh, so let's see some humorous cards. I personally find them challenging, so I think that is all I will ask for: It might make us laugh, but should definitely make us smile :)

I had a tough time coming up with an idea for this card. I did not have any cute stamps like everyone else and I didn't have any funny stickers, so I came up with this:

I used my "Paper Doll Dress Up" Cricut Cartridge to cut out the cute little pirate boy, then added the joke question: "Why did the pirate cross the road?"
Then on the inside of the card, I used the same brown polk-a-dot paper as the front and added the answer to the joke: "To get to the second-hand shop!!!" HAHAHA!

I thought this card ended up being pretty cute!!!!! And who doesn't love pirate jokes?

Day 127:Super Sketchy Sunday

I have been on vacation since last Wednesday. Now that I am back in town, I am ready to get back into the challenge. The first one I did was for Sunday. Our challenge was to follow this sketch:

And here is my creation from that sketch:
I used three different black and pink pattern papers. I distressed the edges and used black chalk around each paper, to make them stand out a little more. I used a black polk-a-dot ribbon across the middle, with an "adore" embellishment. Above the ribbon are 5 square rhinestones. I love how this card turned out.

Day 122: Its a wrap!

So, the challenge today was plain and simple: Use wrapping paper. So, I went out into the garage to see what I had, which was not very much (I use a lot of gift bags). I found three rolls of wrapping paper. One was just a magenta color and I decided that was not very exciting. The second one is a Christmas wrapping paper, but just had Christmas colors on it and no cute decorations. The third was this Hallmark, wedding wrapping paper. I decided that it would look really cute with some pink champagne glasses and a velvet pink ribbon. I cut out the glasses using my Cricut. Once again I used "Stretch Your Imagination."

This is one of my favorite Cricut cartridges. If you own a Cricut, or are thinking about getting one, I highly suggest you purchase this item.

365 Cards

My friend Megan joined the journey to making 365 cards a few months ago. I was really enjoying looking at all the different creations and decided that I should try to this challenge as well. Of course, this is easier said than done. It is the summer time, which means no teaching. So, it might seem easy now when I don't have to work, so we'll see how it goes. Today is Day 120 "Super Sketchy Sunday". Our Challenge is to try to follow this sketch and be as creative as possible.

Here's my card..... (It is supposed to be horizontal, but for some reason my computer didn't like that idea)

So what do you think?
Now I just need to see if I can try to post it onto the 365 cards website :)

Alison and I have been very productive as far as card making goes this summer. The other day we got together and between the two of us we just went crazy.

Visitors

My mom, dad, and sister (Ashli) came to visit the kittens. They absolutely loved them. We watched them play forever until they finally tired themselves out and had to take a cat nap. While my parents were here, my dad helped me put handles on my kitchen cabinets. They look so much better now. My aunt and uncle also came down from Redding. We went to lunch and then went shopping for a while. We were looking for a dresser for my sister to put in her new apartment. She wants one that has two long drawers and then two smaller drawers on the third level. If anyone has one they would be willing to sell for about $35 let me know and I will buy it off of you. Anyway, it was a very productive weekend getting to see the family, installing handles, and oh yeah finishing up report cards (4 more days of school).

Tiki and Tini

I officially got my first kittens on Saturday! I named the two brothers Tiki and Tini( Tiki is the one with the blue collar and Tini is my little runt sleeping). They are so cute and so far haven't ruined any of my furniture (knock on wood). They are very entertaining to watch but tire themselves out easily. So here are a couple of pictures and a video for you. Enjoy and be ready for a lot more.

Kittens

My friend Alison adopted a cat and it had kittens! I went over to play with them today and took a ton of pictures. Aren't they the cutest? I haven't decided which one (or maybe two) I am going to take yet. But if I take the runt I am going to name him or her "Martini" and call it "Tini" for short. If I take one of the other ones I am going to name him or her "Tiki".
